Overview

Formkit is an email-based form backend. When someone submits a form configured to use Formkit, the service processes the submission and forwards it by email.

What Formkit processes

  • Form field values submitted through a form using the service.
  • Uploaded files included in that submission.
  • The destination email address supplied in the form action query string.
  • Basic request metadata needed to deliver the submission, such as referrer information and email-related fields you include.

How that information is used

  • To construct and send the resulting email message.
  • To attach uploaded files to that message when applicable.
  • To operate, secure, debug, and protect the service from abuse.

Service providers

Formkit uses third-party infrastructure to run the service and deliver email. Based on the current implementation, email delivery is handled through Postmark. Those providers may process submission data as part of delivering the service.

Retention and sensitivity

Formkit is designed to process submissions and forward them, not to act as a long-term records system. Operational logs or provider-side records may still exist as part of running and debugging the service.

Do not use Formkit for highly sensitive, regulated, or secret data unless you are comfortable sending that information through an email-based workflow and the providers involved in delivery.

Your choices

  • Only include data you intend to send by email.
  • Avoid collecting personal information you do not actually need.
  • If you do not agree with this policy, do not submit forms through Formkit.
